A small-appliance QC plan should cover incoming materials, assembly, electrical safety, functional performance, cosmetics, packaging and traceability against an approved sample. Inspection is not a substitute for a well-defined specification, but it is the feedback loop that catches variation before shipment.
Build the checklist from failure modes#
Start with what can hurt the user, stop the product from working, create a return or damage the brand. For an air fryer or grill, that can include electrical connection, heating, controls, handle temperature, food-contact surfaces, abnormal noise, smoke management, detachable parts and packaging protection.
Minimum inspection layers#

What buyers often miss#
They inspect a unit but not the product definition. If the approved sample, artwork, test method and defect limits are not controlled, two parties can both believe the shipment is correct. Make acceptance visible before the purchase order is released.
FAQ#
Should I inspect every unit?#
That depends on risk, volume and the test. Critical safety checks may be 100% in-line, while cosmetic checks may use sampling. Agree the plan with the product risk in mind.
Does a certificate replace QC?#
No. A certificate or test report addresses defined requirements; it does not prove every production batch matches the tested configuration.
When should the buyer join QC?#
At specification approval, sample approval, pilot review and pre-shipment decisions at minimum. The exact plan should be agreed before production.
